Colombian regional assemblies approve new tax and security ordinances

The Tolima Department Assembly concluded its ordinary session by approving a package of twelve ordinances. Key measures include tax interest discounts for delinquent vehicle, excise and consumption tax payers, funding for the strategic Hervéo‑Delgaditas road project, and an additional 22 billion Colombian pesos for health, education, social inclusion, security and agricultural development. The assembly also created a fund for people with disabilities and their caregivers and highlighted the support of Governor Adriana Magali Matiz.

In the neighboring Magdalena Department, the Assembly opened an extraordinary session on 1 August to consider a Special Security and Coexistence Tax and a Territorial Security Fund (FONSET). Assembly President Amed Zawady emphasized the initiative’s role in combating crime and improving public safety. The session will also address three pending ordinances from the previous regular session, aiming to complete the legislative agenda by the end of August.
