Colombian regional assembly legislative actions

Overview

Regional assemblies in various Colombian departments are passing ordinances to fund public works, security, and social services.

In Tolima, the department assembly concluded its ordinary session by approving twelve ordinances. These measures include tax interest discounts for delinquent vehicle, excise, and consumption tax payers, as well as funding for the Hervéo‑Delgaditas road project. Additionally, 22 billion Colombian pesos were allocated for health, education, social inclusion, security, and agricultural development, alongside the creation of a fund for people with disabilities and their caregivers.

In Magdalena, the Assembly opened an extraordinary session on 1 August to consider a Special Security and Coexistence Tax and a Territorial Security Fund (FONSET) to combat crime. The assembly also approved the sale of unused assets to fund a university campus in Fundación.

In Atlántico, the Assembly is reviewing tax relief measures and long-term territorial planning. In Meta, the assembly has authorized future funding for solar panel installation, rural electrification, and educational infrastructure.
