Colombian taxi drivers present modernisation plan to President‑elect De La Espriella

The national taxi drivers’ association delivered a comprehensive modernisation agenda to President‑elect Abelardo De La Espriella. The proposal calls for stronger passenger safety measures, renewal of the vehicle fleet through credit lines, updates to regulations covering licensing, tariffs and vehicle types, and improved labour conditions for drivers.

It also seeks digital transformation of the sector, simplifying procedures via virtual channels, and infrastructure upgrades such as safe waiting zones. The group emphasised a coordinated effort with the State, companies and drivers, stating, “Queremos expresarle nuestra disposición para trabajar de manera articulada con su Gobierno, convencidos de que los grandes retos de la movilidad solo pueden superarse cuando el Estado y los actores involucrados avanzamos en una misma dirección.”
