Colombia's 2025 GDP Concentrated in Six Departments, Bogotá Leads

In 2025 Colombia's gross domestic product reached 1.852 trillion pesos, marking a 2.6 % increase over the previous year. The Department of National Statistics (DANE) reported that six departments—Bogotá, Antioquia, Valle del Cauca, Santander, Cundinamarca and Atlántico—accounted for 67.3 % of national output. Bogotá alone contributed 25 % of GDP (477 billion pesos), followed by Antioquia at 15 % (277 billion) and Valle del Cauca at 10 % (180 billion), together supplying half of the country's production.

Only ten departments grew faster than the national average, with Risaralda, Antioquia, Tolima and Caquetá among them. Five regions posted negative growth: Casanare (‑2.2 %), Arauca (‑1.9 %), La Guajira (‑1.6 %), Putumayo (‑1.3 %) and Cesar (‑1.1 %). The lowest contributors—Vaupés, Guainía, Vichada, Amazonas and Guaviare—each represented less than 0.1 % of total GDP. Per‑capita GDP rose to 34.9 million pesos. Experts linked the concentration to better connectivity and migration toward major urban corridors, noting the need for infrastructure investment in lagging regions.
