Colombian army seizes 40 million pesos from FARC dissident bloc in Caquetá
During a military operation in the Caquetá department, the Colombian National Army seized 40 million Colombian pesos that authorities say originated from extortion of merchants in Caquetá and Huila. The operation also led to the surrender to justice of a member of the security network known by the alias Marlón Díaz. In addition to the cash, soldiers confiscated two pistols, a shotgun, ammunition, communication equipment and documents related to the group’s finances. The raid targeted the Jorge Suárez Briceño block of dissident FARC forces, aiming to weaken the bloc’s financial structure that relies on illegal extortion. The army indicated that further operations will continue in Caquetá and Huila to disrupt extortion networks and improve security for local producers and traders.
