Colombian army operations against insurgents

In late July 2026, the Colombian National Army conducted a raid in the Caquetá department that seized 40 million pesos and weapons from a dissident FARC bloc, aiming to disrupt the group’s extortion‑based financing. The operation also led to the arrest of a network member known as Marlón Díaz.

A few days later, in early August, army units in the neighboring departments of Cauca and Huila engaged ELN militants, killing a lieutenant, capturing two suspects, and confiscating a cocaine‑production laboratory. Simultaneously, police and army forces intercepted a taxi in Huila carrying 131 kg of high‑purity marijuana linked to the GAO‑r Estructura Teófilo Forero criminal network, seizing the haul and further striking at the financial resources of armed groups.

These actions illustrate a coordinated Colombian military effort across multiple regions to weaken the financial and operational capacities of both FARC dissidents and the ELN through seizures of cash, drugs, and weapons.
