Colombia's Comunes leader warns president‑elect on respecting 2016 peace accord
Rodrigo Londoño, president of the Comunes party and former commander of the now‑defunct FARC, warned newly elected President Abelardo De la Espriella that his statements threaten the 2016 peace agreement. Londoño said the president‑elect’s remarks “stigmatize” the signatories, question the agreement’s validity, and could jeopardise the Special Jurisdiction for Peace (JEP). He stressed that the accord is incorporated into Colombia’s constitution, ratified by the United Nations Security Council, and therefore binding on all officials, including the president. Londoño called on De la Espriella to deepen implementation of the pact and urged ex‑combatants not to consider returning to arms.
