María Carolina Restrepo appointed director of Colombia's ICBF

President‑elect Abelardo De La Espriella announced that María Carolina Restrepo Cañavera will become director of the Instituto Colombiano de Bienestar Familiar (ICBF) when his administration starts on 7 August. Restrepo brings more than 30 years of experience in legal, financial and corporate sectors and holds academic credentials from the Pontifical University Javeriana, the University of the Rosario, Harvard University and other institutions. The new leadership is tasked with a transformation of the ICBF focused on greater transparency, anti‑corruption controls, strengthening community‑mother programmes and accelerating adoption processes. De La Espriella said the appointment is a priority for protecting children and restoring public confidence in the agency.
