Colombia's incoming Interior Minister Rodrigo Lara Restrepo vows forensic audit of late‑stage contracts
Future Interior Minister Rodrigo Lara Restrepo warned that the outgoing administration rushed contract awards in its final weeks, describing a “carrera por la adjudicación de contratos y mucha corrupción.” He announced that the incoming government will launch a forensic‑audit task force attached to the presidency to examine contracts, tenders and last‑minute expenditures, including roughly 13 trillion pesos spent by the Defence Ministry and a 75 billion‑peso aeronautical aid contract in Arauca.
The anti‑corruption plan will create a specialized block to detect high‑risk actions, deploy regional delegates for oversight, and enable citizen reporting of irregularities. Findings will be forwarded to the Fiscalía General, Procuraduría, Contraloría and the Special Jurisdiction for Peace for possible investigations and sanctions.
