Colombia's OCAD approves $88 million for road and health projects in Eje Cafetero

The Regional Administration and Decision Board of the Eje Cafetero (OCAD) approved 88.142 million Colombian pesos from the General System of Royalties' regional investment allocation. The funding will finance road‑infrastructure upgrades and the expansion of hospital services across the departments of Antioquia, Quindío and Caldas.

Transport projects receive 82.881 million pesos, including the improvement of the Narices–Juanes–El Jordán–La Holanda corridor in San Carlos, Antioquia (six kilometres of pavement benefiting about 96 800 residents) and secondary routes in Montenegro, Filandia and Buenavista, Quindío (15.09 km serving roughly 57 000 people). Health investments total 5.261 million pesos to enlarge the facilities of the ESE Hospital network, aiming to improve access for an estimated 154 000 inhabitants in the region.

OCAD director Natalia Irene Molina said the projects will translate national planning into tangible works that boost mobility, agricultural product transport, education access and overall quality of life for local communities.
