Colombia’s President De la Espriella appoints Enrique Serrano as cultural policy adviser

President Abelardo de la Espriella of Colombia announced the appointment of Enrique Serrano López as a presidential adviser. Serrano, a social communicator and philosopher, has spent decades teaching at institutions such as the Universidad Javeriana, Universidad del Rosario and the Universidad Externado, and previously directed the Archivo General de la Nación.

In his new role, Serrano will work on the government’s “cultural battle,” a strategy promoted by Argentine thinker Agustín Laje to shape national identity, history, values and public debate. The president said Serrano will strengthen ideological discussion, enrich strategic reflection and help build a solid, rigorous vision of the country. The appointment signals a focus on influencing cultural institutions and public discourse as part of the administration’s broader political agenda.
