Colombia President‑elect Abelardo de la Espriella appoints two official spokespersons
President‑elect Abelardo de la Espriella announced the appointment of Miller Soto Solano and Carolina Gómez Sánchez as the sole official spokespeople for his incoming administration. The decision centralizes all government communications through the Office of Official Spokesperson and the Press Office and will remain in effect after the inauguration on 7 August.
Miller Soto Solano, a lawyer and former three‑term councilor of Barranquilla, holds a doctorate in Law and Economics and will handle legal and policy briefings. Carolina Gómez Sánchez, a journalist from Arauca with experience at Red+ Noticias, will address media and public relations.
Under the new scheme, ministers and other officials are prohibited from issuing independent statements, aiming to ensure coordinated, precise, and transparent information for the Colombian public.
