Colombia's Top 100 Companies Generate Revenue Near Entire National Economy

Colombia's corporate regulator released its annual ranking showing that the ten‑thousand largest firms recorded total revenue of about $538 billion in 2025, equal to roughly 99.9 % of the country's annual output. The hundred biggest firms alone accounted for $178 billion in sales and generated close to $16 billion in profit, with profits rising nearly 13 % year‑over‑year while aggregate losses shrank by about $2 billion.

State‑controlled oil producer Ecopetrol remained the largest single company, leading the mining and energy sector, although that sector’s revenue fell more than 14 % as oil prices slipped. Commerce now drives corporate earnings, with fuel‑and‑retail group Terpel topping the sector, and services and manufacturing rounding out the top revenue generators. Revenue concentration is high: Bogotá and surrounding areas contributed 56.5 % of total sales, while Antioquia added 17.1 %. The data signal a recovery after a weak 2024 and provide a positive fiscal backdrop for a government facing a sizable budget gap.
