Colombo court summons ten doctors in Suresh Salley medical probe

The Colombo Magistrate's Court has issued summons to ten doctors from a medical board tasked with examining Suresh Salley, the former Director of the State Intelligence Service. Salley is currently detained in connection with the Easter Sunday terrorist attacks.

The court's decision follows a motion by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) to scrutinize the medical panel's findings. Previous reports indicated that Salley was being treated at the Colombo National Hospital for a heart condition involving a swollen heart and an implanted device, which reportedly cost approximately forty lakhs in government funds.

However, the CID has characterized Salley's hospitalization as a “medical conspiracy.” The court is seeking to investigate the validity of his health claims and the conduct of the medical board. The doctors are expected to appear before the court on October 06 to provide testimony regarding their assessments.
