Investigation of Suresh Salley regarding Easter Sunday हमलों

Overview

Suresh Salley, the former Director of the State Intelligence Service, is under investigation by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) for his alleged role in aiding and abetting the 2019 Easter Sunday terrorist attacks.

During his detention, Salley was hospitalized at the Colombo National Hospital for 119 days to treat a heart condition. This hospitalization became the subject of a legal inquiry after the CID characterized the medical treatment as a “medical conspiracy.” Consequently, the Colombo Magistrate's Court summoned ten members of the medical board to testify regarding the validity of Salley’s health claims and the use of government funds for his care.

Following a determination by a 10-member medical panel that he was fit for discharge, Salley is set to return to CID custody to allow the investigation to proceed.
