Haute-Garonne firefighters recover two boa constrictors in three days

Firefighters in the Haute-Garonne department of France responded to two separate incidents involving boa constrictors within a three-day period.

In Colomiers, a 1.5-meter boa was discovered inside the engine compartment of a car that had been parked for a month. The owner found the reptile while attempting to change the vehicle's battery. Five firefighters, including two specialists from the animal risk unit (RAN), extracted the snake safely. The animal was subsequently transported to the École nationale vétérinaire de Toulouse for care as the owner had not come forward.

In Montesquieu-Volvestre, a smaller boa of approximately one meter was found on a public road. This reptile had reportedly escaped from its vivarium. Firefighters secured the animal and returned it to its owner. These consecutive sightings of exotic reptiles have been noted as unusual for the region.
