Boa constrictor sightings in Haute-Garonne
Overview
In the Haute-Garonne department of France, firefighters responded to two separate incidents involving boa constrictors within a three-day period.
In Colomiers, a 1.5-meter boa was discovered inside the engine compartment of a car that had been parked for a month. The animal was extracted by firefighters, including specialists from the animal risk unit (RAN), and transported to the École nationale vétérinaire de Toulouse for care.
In Montesquieu-Volvestre, a smaller boa of approximately one meter was found on a public road after reportedly escaping from a vivarium. Firefighters secured the reptile and returned it to its owner. These consecutive sightings have been noted as unusual for the region.
