Budi Utomo named suspect in National Nutrition Agency corruption case
The Attorney General's Office (Kejagung) has named Colonel Cpl Budi Utomo, a former official at the National Nutrition Agency (BGN), as a suspect in a corruption case involving the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) program for the 2025-2026 period.
Budi Utomo, who served as the Secretary of the Deputy for Provision and Distribution, is accused of corruption related to the procurement of electric motorcycles. Investigators allege that the Rp1 trillion project involved price markups, contract violations, and the manipulation of handover documents. Notably, only 3,229 out of 21,081 units have been received despite 100% of the payment being processed.
Because the case involves both military and civilian elements, the legal proceedings are being conducted through a connectivity mechanism involving the Military Criminal Division (Jampidmil). Budi Utomo is currently being detained at the Pomdam Jaya detention center. He is one of seven suspects identified in the broader investigation into the MBG program's management, which includes allegations of corruption in the sale of food trays and nutrition service points.
