Color trends for 2027 shift toward nature-inspired earth tones

Major paint and color forecasting brands have begun announcing their ‘Color of the Year’ selections for 2027, signaling a shift toward nature-inspired and calming palettes.

WGSN and Coloro have identified ‘Luminous Blue’ as a key shade, described as a dynamic, mysterious, and gender-neutral hue suitable for various industries from activewear to graphic design. Dulux has selected ‘Soulful Sage,’ a soft green intended to provide mood-boosting and soothing properties for home environments.

Other industry leaders are following similar trends toward earth tones. Sherwin-Williams named ‘Celery,’ a pale herbal green aimed at providing serenity, while Behr selected ‘Grounded,’ a mossy olive shade. Interior designers note a growing consumer desire to move away from all-white interiors in favor of warm, layered spaces that establish a stronger connection to nature.
