Colorado GOP faces internal strife following Victor Marx victory

Internal divisions within the Colorado Republican Party have intensified following the gubernatorial primary victory of Victor Marx. Marx, a social media figure and ministry leader, won the nomination after defeating candidates such as state Rep. Scott Bottoms and state Sen. Barbara Kirkmeyer.

The political friction has led to high-level resignations. Hugo Chavez-Rey, vice-chairman of the Denver Republicans, announced his resignation ‘under duress’ following a vote of no confidence by the Executive Committee. This move followed a heated exchange with Colorado GOP chairman Craig Steiner regarding Chavez-Rey’s reluctance to support Marx, the party’s nominee.

Longtime Republican and former state legislative leader Norma Anderson expressed disillusionment with the party’s direction, citing Marx’s victory as a turning point. Anderson, who recently changed her voter registration to unaffiliated, criticized the party for moving away from its core values and failing to support qualified candidates.
