Colorado Red Flag Warning Triggers Broad Fire‑Weather Alerts

The National Weather Service issued a Red Flag Warning for Boulder County, Colorado, prohibiting all open burning as critical fire‑weather conditions are expected through Friday. Gusty winds of up to 65 mph, low relative humidity (5–10 %) and warm, dry air create extreme fire danger, prompting a Fire Weather Watch for the region.

Wildfire smoke from a 28,000‑acre fire near Mesa County and the Utah border has driven unhealthy ozone and particulate levels across the Front Range, prompting an Action Day Alert covering Douglas, Larimer, Weld, Boulder, Fort Collins and Greeley. Governor Jared Polis declared a disaster for the blaze, which has already claimed three firefighters’ lives. The combined alerts underscore serious air‑quality and safety concerns for residents of Colorado’s high‑country and populated Front Range communities.
