Colorado Red Flag Warnings Heighten Wildfire Risk

The National Weather Service issued Red Flag Warnings covering much of northeast Colorado and the Pueblo area. The alerts, in effect from early afternoon through the evening, cite gusty winds of 10‑25 mph and relative humidity as low as 7‑11 percent, conditions that can cause fires to ignite and spread rapidly.

Affected counties include Douglas, Denver, Adams, Arapahoe, Broomfield, Elbert, Weld, Morgan, Logan, Sedgwick and Phillips, as well as fire‑weather zones 229 and 230 near Pueblo. Authorities warn residents to avoid outdoor burning and any activity that could produce sparks, emphasizing the heightened danger of wildfire development.

A concurrent Fire Weather Watch predicts similar hazardous conditions for the following afternoon and evening, urging continued caution.
