Colorado State defensive coordinator dismissed during Oregon State game
Colorado State defensive coordinator Tyson Summers is no longer with the football program following a mid-game demotion during a 56-26 loss to Oregon State.
Head coach Jim Mora reported that during the first half of the game, he relieved Summers of his play-calling duties due to the team's defensive struggles. Following this decision, Summers left the field and did not return to the sideline. Mora stated that while he did not intend for Summers to leave the sideline, the move to remove him from the program is permanent.
Associate head coach and defensive line coach Kenny McClendon took over primary play-calling responsibilities during the contest. The Rams' defense has struggled significantly, allowing 193 points over five games and giving up over 50 points in two consecutive matchups. Summers, who previously served as the program's interim head coach, leaves a staff that has struggled to contain high-scoring offenses in recent weeks.
