Colorado State defensive coordinator dismissal

Overview

Colorado State head coach Jim Mora dismissed defensive coordinator Tyson Summers following a mid-game demotion during a loss to Oregon State. The decision occurred during the game after the team's defense struggled, leading Mora to relieve Summers of play-calling duties. Associate head coach Kenny McClendon assumed play-calling responsibilities during the contest.

The dismissal follows a period of significant defensive performance issues for the Rams, who allowed back-to-back games of over 50 points. Mora noted the need to ‘shrink the package’ of the defensive scheme to improve player speed and certainty. The team's record has fallen to 2-3 during Mora’s inaugural season.
