Colorado Thunderstorms Bring 60 mph Winds and Flash Flood Threat

Isolated thunderstorms are expected to develop Friday across Colorado’s Front Range, moving from the mountains onto the plains. The National Weather Service in Denver/Boulder warned of damaging outflow winds reaching up to 60 mph, pockets of hail and cooler temperatures in the low‑90s. Communities such as Denver, Boulder, Fort Collins, Greeley, Castle Rock, Golden, Longmont and Fort Morgan could see brief but intense storms, with wind and hail posing hazards to outdoor items, high‑profile vehicles and visibility.

Separately, the National Weather Service in Pueblo issued a flash‑flood warning for the Middle and South Aspen Acres Burn Scar area of southeastern Colorado. Heavy rain of 0.2‑0.5 inches has already fallen, creating life‑threatening flooding and debris flows of rock, mud and vegetation. Roads and driveways may be washed away, and residents in places like Rye, San Isabel and Colorado City are urged to avoid flood waters and seek safety.
