Haiden Deegan wins first 450SMX title in muddy Columbus playoff
Haiden Deegan secured his first career 450SMX victory by winning both motos during the opening round of the SuperMotocross Playoffs at Historic Crew Stadium in Columbus, Ohio. Facing heavy mud and saturated track conditions following significant rainfall, the 20-year-old American demonstrated dominance to claim the overall win.
In the 450SMX class, Ken Roczen finished second in the first moto, while Jorge Prado secured third, helping Prado maintain a lead in the series standings. In the 250SMX class, Levi Kitchen took the day's victory. The challenging weather conditions created a ‘soupy mess’ on the track, making rhythm sections difficult to navigate and impacting several riders, including Cole Davies, who suffered a mechanical failure while leading.
Deegan expressed that the win was a ‘dream come true’ and a significant milestone in his career, noting that the victory provided a sense of relief and increased confidence as he continues his first season in the 450 class.
