Comando Vermelho leader killed in Alagoas police confrontation
Cleidson Gonçalves Nepomuceno, a suspected leader of the Comando Vermelho (CV) criminal organization known as ‘Keu’, died following a confrontation with law enforcement in Barra de São Miguel, Alagoas.
An integrated operation involving the Civil and Military police from both Bahia and Alagoas, through the Força Integrada de Combate ao Crime Organizado (FICCO), targeted the suspect. Authorities state that Nepomuceno, who had an active arrest warrant, presented himself as a businessman to maintain a luxury lifestyle.
During the operation, police discovered two properties linked to the suspect. One residence contained a vehicle valued at R$ 200,000 and various luxury items. A second property, under construction, featured high-end amenities including marble finishes, swimming pools, a hydromassage tub, and a game room. Investigators believe these assets were funded through money laundering derived from drug and arms trafficking, as well as robberies and other criminal activities.
In Bahia, the suspect was identified as a leader of a criminal group operating in the Liberdade, IAPI, and Santa Mônica neighborhoods of Salvador. Authorities are proceeding with requests to seize the investigated assets and are continuing searches to locate other gang members.
