Comando Vermelho law enforcement confrontations

Overview

Law enforcement operations targeting the Comando Vermelho criminal organization in Brazil have resulted in multiple fatalities.

In Alagoas, a joint operation by civil and military police from Bahia and Alagoas killed Cleidson Gonçalves Nepomuceno, a suspected leader known as ‘Keu’. Authorities discovered luxury properties and assets allegedly funded through money laundering from drug trafficking, arms trafficking, and robberies. Investigators identified Nepomuceno as a leader of a criminal group operating in several Salvador neighborhoods.

Following this, in the Cosme de Farias neighborhood of Salvador, two men identified as Comando Vermelho members, Felipe Santos Neri Conceição and Rogério Gomes Macedo, died after a shootout with military police during ‘Operação Alatus’. During the encounter, police seized a carbine, a revolver, cocaine, and cash.
