Comiso Airport to receive €48.27 million road connectivity upgrade

A contract has been signed for a €48.27 million infrastructure project to improve road connectivity for the Comiso “Pio La Torre” Airport in Sicily. The project, funded by the Development and Cohesion Fund (FSC), involves the construction and modernization of approximately 6.3 kilometers of roads.

The works will connect the SS 115 highway to the SP 4 roundabout, strengthening the link between the airport and the SS 514 Ragusa-Catania axis. This initiative is part of a broader strategy to boost the airport's role through increased flight offerings and cargo sector development.

The contract was awarded to a temporary grouping of companies including Consorzio Stabile Progettisti Costruttori and Consorzio Stabile Steelconcrete. Following the contract signing, the handover of works is expected in early October, with an estimated construction timeline of 900 days.
