Communist Crimes Exhibition Opens in Široki Brijeg, Bosnia

An exhibition titled “The End of World War II and Communist Crimes” opened at the National Library in Široki Brijeg, Bosnia and Herzegovina, as part of the cultural‑spiritual “Briješka zvona” program. The display, authored by Croatian EU parliamentarian Stjepo Bartulija, had previously been presented in the European Parliament in Brussels and later in Kaštela and Vodica. It documents systematic persecution and killings of Croats during and after World War II, with a focus on the martyrdom of Herzegovinian Franciscans.

Organisers emphasized the need to preserve historical memory, promote public dialogue on communist-era atrocities, and advance calls for lustration. The exhibition will remain open to visitors until 20 May 2026 and is intended to become a permanent effort, potentially leading to a museum of communist crimes.
