Communist Party of Uruguay rallies support for Cuba with street banner in Nueva Helvecia

On July 26, members of the Julio Escudero group of the Communist Party of Uruguay installed a banner at a main entrance in Nueva Helvecia, Uruguay, to mark the anniversary of the Moncada assault and express solidarity with Cuba. The banner displayed the slogan “Cuba no está sola. Siempre es 26” and was part of a nationwide PCU campaign that placed similar signs across all Uruguayan departments.

The organizers highlighted Cuba’s ongoing difficulties under the U.S. economic embargo and recent sanctions, saying the demonstration aims to keep the memory of the Cuban Revolution alive and draw attention to the island’s energy and humanitarian challenges.
