Communities celebrate Burendag with local neighborhood activities

Communities across the Netherlands participated in Burendag, a national day dedicated to fostering neighborhood connections through various social activities. In locations such as Harderwijk and Hierden, residents organized events including barbecues, games, scavenger hunts, and community breakfasts to strengthen local ties.

In Nederweert, the day included a competition to determine the ‘Coziest Street of Nederweert 2026’. After evaluating pitches from participating streets regarding their community engagement and initiatives, the Urnenstraat was named the winner. The residents of Urnenstraat received a trophy and a voucher to fund future neighborhood activities from Mayor Birgit Op de Laak and Alderman Ton Weekers.
