Instituto Coral Vivo awards 50 teachers for ocean education projects
The Instituto Coral Vivo has selected 50 basic education teachers from 12 Brazilian states to be recognized for pedagogical projects focused on ocean culture and environmental conservation. These educators will gather in Rio de Janeiro on November 6 and 7 to present their experiences through the 'Programa Literatura Atlântica'.
The initiative utilizes children's literature to bring ocean-related themes into schools. Selected projects include citizen science expeditions in Pontal do Paraná, artistic presentations about mangroves in Santa Cruz Cabrália, and playful activities regarding coastal pollution in Itanhaém.
To promote diversity, 25% of the available spots were reserved for affirmative action, including Black, Indigenous, LGBTQIAPN+, and people with disabilities. The meeting will also feature the launch of the film 'Cora e os Corais: Perigo no Manguezal'.
