Community Cancer Fundraisers Mobilize Support in Mexico and Panama

In Fresnillo, Zacatecas, relatives of Rogelio Martínez Silvarea organized a charity kermés on August 2 to raise money for his cancer treatment. The event, held in the Jardín Madero, offered foods such as carnitas, tacos, tamales and drinks, with all proceeds directed to cover his medical expenses.

On the same day in Panama, the "Relevo por la Vida" relay took place at the Feria Internacional de Azuero. Participants walked, ran, biked or skated a three‑kilometre circuit, contributing B/. 5 per lap to the Fundación Amigos de Niños con Leucemia y Cáncer (Fanlyc) to support children and adolescents with leukemia and cancer. Schools, companies, police officers and community groups joined the eight‑hour event, raising funds for treatment costs and family travel expenses.
