Community health facilities reopen in Italy’s Valle Camonica and Castelnovo ne’ Monti
In Valle Camonica, the Casa di Comunità in Darfo Boario Terme has resumed hosting the INPS disability‑assessment commission for residents under 70 and, since July, the ASST commission for those over 70. The return ends a period when residents had to travel outside the valley for evaluations and was coordinated by Prefect Andrea Polichetti together with local mayors, the regional health authority, INPS and patient groups.
In Castelnovo ne’ Monti, a new 800‑square‑metre complex housing a Casa della Comunità and an 18‑bed Community Hospital was inaugurated. The two‑level building provides 24‑hour primary care, nursing services, a dementia centre and serves about 20 000 citizens. Funded with roughly €6.9 million from the national PNRR, the opening was attended by regional health minister Massimo Fabi and local officials, who highlighted the project’s role in strengthening territorial health care in mountainous areas.
