Community initiatives expand defibrillator access and training in Italy

Local communities in Italy are increasing emergency preparedness through new medical equipment installations and specialized training programs.

In Annone di Brianza, the municipal administration, in collaboration with the Croce Verde di Bosisio, organized a free cardiopulmonary resuscitation and automated external defibrillator (AED) training course. Eighteen participants, including a significant number of young residents, successfully completed the program to gain essential first-aid skills for responding to cardiac arrest.

In the Reggio region, the ‘Fanta Jordy – Per il Cuore’ project has led to the installation of a new AED at the Bar Tabacchi De Stefano in Sala di Mosorrofa. The initiative was established in memory of Marco Giordano and was funded through community solidarity and local associations, including the Associazione Filarmonica ‘S. Demetrio’, ‘Attiva…Mente’, the Orchestra Giovanile dello Stretto ‘V. Leotta’, and the ‘Vivarium’ cultural circle.
