Community lectures in Kyoto and Tochigi address caregiving and dementia
Community events in Kyoto and Tochigi prefectures recently focused on raising awareness regarding caregiving and dementia.
In Nagaokakyo, Kyoto, the 65th Otoku Mothers' Convention held a lecture titled “Putting Care at the Center of Society!” featuring former Kyoto Kajo University professor Nobuo Fujii. Approximately 100 participants gathered to discuss the importance of care in areas such as childcare, nursing, and medical services, emphasizing the difficulty of family caregiving and the option to rely on professionals.
In Tochigi City, a human rights seminar co-hosted by the city and the Board of Education drew approximately 700 citizens. The event featured a screening of the documentary “I’m Going to Get Senile, So Please Be Kind to Me” by director Naoko Nobutomo. Following the film, Nobutomo gave a lecture on how to live with dementia, sharing insights from her own experiences caring for her mother.
