In Sugito, the “Orange Cafe” offers lectures and “cognicise” exercises—combining physical and cognitive tasks for prevention. Meanwhile, in Otsu City, virtual reality technology is being used to simulate the experience of living with dementia to foster empathy. These efforts address a condition currently affecting approximately 4.5 million people in Japan.
