Community programs launched for seniors in Freigericht and Bocholt

Various community initiatives are being organized for seniors in Germany. In Freigericht, the Senior Office, in cooperation with Bildungspartner Main-Kinzig GmbH, is hosting a workshop on October 27, 2026. The three-hour session is designed for Android smartphone and tablet users to learn basic and advanced functions, such as using Wi-Fi, managing emails, and installing or removing applications. Participants are required to bring their own devices and pay a fee of 32.00 euros.

In Bocholt, a ‘Neighborhood Help Marketplace’ is scheduled for September 22, 2026. This event facilitates direct communication between seniors with a care level and volunteers interested in providing assistance. Support can include accompaniment to doctor appointments, grocery shopping, or companionship. For seniors, these services can be financed through care insurance relief amounts, while volunteers may receive a tax-free expense allowance of up to 131 euros per month.
