Community reforestation initiatives launched in Chad and Burkina Faso

Local communities in Chad and Burkina Faso have undertaken reforestation initiatives to promote environmental protection and honor local legacies.

In N’Djamena, Chad, the Association des Jeunes pour la Défense des Libertés Fondamentales organized a tree-planting event at the headquarters of the Fédération Tchadienne de Football Association (FTFA). During the Tree Week celebrations, 100 plants were provided to the FTFA to help preserve vegetation and raise awareness about climate change. The event was attended by local officials, including FTFA Vice-President Mahamat Adoum Tarouma and the Mayor of the 1st Arrondissement.

In the Bindé commune of Burkina Faso, the alumni association of the Tigré primary school held its first reforestation campaign. Approximately 100 plants were put in the ground at the school and the local health center (CSPS) to honor the memory of Saïdou Kouda, a former village delegate instrumental in the school's 1995 establishment. The initiative also served as a gathering for alumni to discuss community development, including school standardization and land security.
