Community repair initiatives promote sustainability in Austria and Germany

Community repair initiatives in Ried, Austria, and Erbach, Germany, are promoting sustainability through volunteer-led events.

In Ried, the Repair Café is resuming its activities with a special bicycle check scheduled for September 19 as part of the city's Mobility Week. Volunteers will provide technical assistance for bicycle maintenance, such as chain lubrication and tire pressure. Additionally, the café's sewing team has launched an upcycling collaboration with the organization ORA, using old fabrics to create new products that generate donations for aid projects.

In Erbach, a repair meeting is scheduled for September 2 at the AWO training workshops. Volunteers will assist residents in fixing small electrical appliances, mechanical items, and clothing. The event also offers support for software issues related to Windows, Office, and Android, alongside food-sharing initiatives to reduce waste.
