Commvault launches Active Directory Pre Recover for faster cyberattack recovery

Commvault has announced the launch of Active Directory Pre Recover, a solution designed to reduce the time required to restore Active Directory (AD) services from several hours to just a few minutes during a cyberattack.

The technology creates an intact, standby copy of Active Directory within an isolated, air-gapped environment known as a ‘Cleanroom’. To prevent re-infection, the solution utilizes ‘Threat Scan’ to continuously analyze AD backups, ensuring the standby copy remains free of malicious content. This allows organizations to fail over to a clean copy almost in real-time rather than waiting for a full forest recovery or managing complex identity synchronizations.

Rajiv Kottomtharayil, Chief Products Officer at Commvault, stated that identity is foundational to every enterprise application and business process. He noted that the company is extending its ability to provide near-real-time availability, offering faster access to critical systems and increased confidence during cyber recovery. The solution will be available for early access in the coming months as part of Commvault’s Identity Resilience portfolio.
