Italy political landscape: polling and local election preparations

Recent Swg polling for Tg La7 indicates a tight race in Italian national politics. The center-left coalition, potentially led by either Elly Schlein or Giuseppe Conte, maintains a slight lead over the center-right. In both scenarios, Fratelli d’Italia remains the leading individual party. If Schlein leads, the center-left reaches 44.6% against the center-right's 44%; if Conte leads, the center-left reaches 44.5% against 44.1%.

At the local level, various political movements are organizing for upcoming administrative elections. In Conegliano, Fratelli d’Italia has proposed creating a unified center-right program followed by internal primaries to select a mayoral candidate. In Como, the center-left is discussing potential alliances involving the Democratic Party, Five Star Movement, and others, while the center-right considers candidates such as Stefano Molinari or Enrico Gelpi. In Salerno, center-right leaders are meeting to establish a unified method for identifying candidates for the 2027 elections.

In Alghero, local opposition leaders have criticized the municipal administration regarding the Mariotti stadium and the management of rural road funding. They noted that while 372,000 euros have been allocated for local roads, the municipality missed a larger 1.5 million euro regional call for rural roads.
