Como police seize 41 illegal e-bikes during inspections

Local police in Como conducted an extraordinary inspection of electric bicycles to ensure compliance with traffic regulations. Using a mobile testing device provided by technicians from Bari, authorities examined 48 e-bikes to check for illegal technical alterations.

The operation aimed to identify vehicles capable of moving without pedaling at speeds exceeding 6 km/h or reaching motor-only speeds above 25 km/h, which would reclassify them as mopeds. Of the 48 e-bikes tested, 41 were found to be irregular and were seized for administrative confiscation. Five vehicles were found to be compliant, while two could not be verified due to battery issues. Additionally, officers inspected motorcycles, finding one that exceeded noise limit regulations.
