Compromís per Oliva supports Ceuta via institutional act, rejects FEMP rally

The municipal group Compromís per Oliva has announced its stance regarding upcoming demonstrations in support of Ceuta. The group will participate in an institutional act scheduled for 12:00 at the Oliva town hall, which has been agreed upon by all local political forces.

However, the group has declined to join a separate concentration organized by the presidency of the Spanish Federation of Municipalities and Provinces (FEMP) at 20:00. Compromís criticized the FEMP's decision as “unilateral,” alleging that the president, from the People's Party, failed to coordinate with municipal governing bodies, thereby using the institution for partisan strategies.

Spokesperson Yolanda Navarro stated that while the group supports Ceuta and its citizens, they advocate for structural solutions and increased public services through the Spanish State and the European Union. She warned against using border sovereignty as a political tool to fuel xenophobic discourse or criminalize migrants.
