Comune di Sciacca tax amnesty sees over 2,200 enrollments

More than 2,278 taxpayers have joined Sciacca's "definizione agevolata" program, a municipal tax amnesty that lets citizens, families and businesses regularise unpaid local taxes without penalties or interest. The city expects the scheme to generate roughly €6 million in revenue, with payments to be made in a single instalment or up to 36 monthly instalments. The deadline for enrollment was 31 July, and the first payment is due by 20 November.

The new regulation, approved by the municipal council, was explained by Valentina Pistis, president of the Budget Commission, as a tool to reduce tax disputes while giving debt‑burdened taxpayers a second chance. Councilor Antonio Zedde praised the measure for supporting both citizens and enterprises. Mayor Fabio Termine and Tax Assessor Giuseppe Termine thanked the tax office staff and local professional bodies for helping communicate the opportunity.
