Conagra Brands to discontinue Celeste frozen pizza brand
Conagra Brands has announced the discontinuation of Celeste, a longtime budget-friendly frozen pizza brand. During the company’s fiscal first-quarter 2027 earnings call on September 30, CEO John Brase explained that the decision was part of a strategy to exit small, low-profit brands to boost margins and simplify the company’s core platforms.
Manufacturing of Celeste has ceased entirely, though the products will remain on retail shelves until existing inventory is sold through. The brand, which has a history dating back to 1937 with the Lizio family in Chicago, has become a nostalgic staple for many consumers.
Brase indicated that the company aims to reduce its sprawling portfolio, noting that they currently manage over 400 single-serve meal stock-keeping units and seek a more productive assortment.
