Conagra to discontinue Mama Celeste frozen pizza brand
Conagra has announced that it will discontinue the Mama Celeste frozen pizza brand. The decision was disclosed during a recent earnings call.
The brand has a long history dating back to 1937, when Celeste Lizzio and her husband Anthony opened a restaurant in Chicago. In 1962, the couple transitioned from restaurant operations to focusing on pizza production for other establishments.
Ownership of the brand has changed several times over the decades. Quaker Oats purchased the company in 1969, later selling it to Aurora Foods. Aurora Foods subsequently merged with Pinnacle Foods, which was eventually acquired by Conagra in October 2018.
