African nations launch school supply drives for vulnerable students

Various humanitarian and government initiatives are providing school supplies and financial aid to vulnerable students across several African nations ahead of the 2026 school year.

In Togo, the government distributed kits including bags, notebooks, and Braille paper to 340 disadvantaged and disabled students in the Central Region. In the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Deputy Venance Eyanga Mboyo provided pedagogical documents and supplies to 10 public schools in Kisenso 2. In Gabon, a solidarity campaign led by First Lady Zita Oligui Nguema distributed 573 kits to orphans and economically vulnerable families in the Estuaire region.

Other regional efforts include the distribution of 3,500 school kits to students affected by fires in Jijel, Algeria, and the provision of supplies, food, and financial assistance to 12 families of ‘Pupilles de la Nation’ in Burkina Faso. Additionally, in Conakry, Guinea, an initiative led by Kevin Fofana distributed 400 kits to children in ten different orphanages to support their education.
