Conavi evaluates new social housing development in Chetumal

The National Housing Commission (Conavi) has begun planning a new social housing development in Chetumal, Quintana Roo, as part of the federal ‘Vivienda para el Bienestar’ program. The project is currently in its initial stages, with environmental documentation submitted to the state Secretariat of Ecology and the Environment (SEMA) to assess viability.

The proposed site is located in the southwestern zone of Chetumal, near the old road to the Santa Elena community and close to the Chacchoben street area. The location is situated near established neighborhoods such as Fovissste and Estatuto Jurídico, and is in proximity to the Chetumal International Airport.

To proceed, Conavi has submitted an Ordinary Modality Environmental Impact Statement (MIA-O) for review. This evaluation will determine if the project can move forward according to current environmental regulations. If approved, the development will require the installation of essential urban infrastructure, including potable water networks, drainage, and electricity.
